Our Story

Where do we start?

Purrcle is a love story, in so many ways but like most love stories it has some shades of pain and ache attached to it but a happy ending for sure!

The OG Purrcle

Purrcle was born when Nilanjan lost a puppy he had bought from a puppy mill (We din't know any better back then). He realised how wrong the world of pet breeding was, and wanted to create an education platform to bring awareness around illegal pet breeding and wanted to build a charitable platform that brought pet services together. The services would charge a small fee which will go as donations to animal shelters. Purrcle meant pet full circle. But life kept happening and the OG Purrcle couldn't take off.

Enter Whiskey

Whiskey entered Nilanjan's life around this time. He was born on the streets and sold off to someone being told he was a beagle. As he started to grow, this person realised he is a desi superstar and not a beagle and he was left on the streets to fend for himself displaced away from his mother and rest of the litter. Nilanjan brought Whiskey home to save him from the streets but believe it or not the idea was to get him adopted. As you would have guessed by now, he is a foster fail.

Enter Swarnika

Swarnika all this while was a lost soul in the streets of Bangalore, trying to feel at home but failing to do so. One night swiping on Tinder she saw Nilanjan's profile (ofcourse with Whiskey as thirst trap). She swiped for the dog and stayed for the love. Rest is history :)

Wait we are not there yet!

Whiskey all of this while suffered from chronic skin issues and allergies, 400 vet visits and one very expensive blood test later they realised he is allergic to a lot of proteins. Then started the quest of finding foods that Whiskey can enjoy without a flare up of allergies. They started reading labels for the commercially available treats and realised how much they were concealing. By this time Roomba also came along. 

Mom's got to leave

Swarnika found a job in Delhi she really wanted to try out and had to pack her bags and leave. While, Whiskey Roomba and Neal lived in Bangalore. The longing and the ache made Swarnika experiment with ingredients that Whiskey could have and voila Purrcle treats were born! The treats would be sent in a boxie by courier from Delhi to Bangalore, some would survive some won't. Preservatives were a no go so experimentation kept on. 

Purrcle - The product of love

By 2022, the smells of the treats had travelled from their kitchen to friends and family and finally they decided to open their doors commercially. Swarnika moved back to Bangalore to be with her fur babies. We thought of a name and Nilanjan said we already have one :) - You guessed it right - Purrcle. Purrcle as you know it was born. Purrcle was always a product of love, so we decided the proceeds from these sales would go to animal shelters across India. One treat packet at a time, we formed a lovely connection with pet parents across India that trusted us and believed in our motto of clean treats for pets and here we are!

Hence we say Purrcle is a love story - Story of a broken heart of a dog dad, story of a mom's love and story of the immense love we get everyday from pets around the country.
